The poem takes notice of the love his father shows by actions rather than words. In the poem, Digging the author, Seamus Heaney, represents a boy who revisits his families heritage. by and by feeling unconnected to his father and grandfathers line of work, he rediscovers a unique relation. The unnamed word blueblack creates a more specific visual take to of that nearly pitch-dark time before sunrise than the c! ommon words before dawn exhibit.
